An international team of scientists has succeeded in making decisive progress in X-ray imaging. They transferred ideas from high-resolution fluorescence microscopy to X-rays to transform noise into valuable data. The technique called stochastic stimulated X-ray Raman scattering (s-SXRS) provides snapshots of electronic structures with unprecedented details at the atomic level. This helps to better understand chemical reactions and material properties.
